Speaking Challenges of Saudi EFL Learners

چکیده

This study aimed at exploring the possible underlying reasons for low speaking proficiency of EFL learners through adopting a qualitative methodology. To approach its goal, this used semi-structured interview to collect in-depth details from three and one university professor. The internal construction was associated with following four items; student, teacher, English materials or textbooks, assessment practices inside classrooms. findings shed some light on multiple components related teaching methods, teachers centered approach, students’ motivation, unauthentic materials. recommended further investigation using quasi-experiments explore more what causes performance as well propose valid suggestions recommendations develop speaking.
